Johnny Givens

Attorney at Law

Johnny Givens grew up in the Mississippi Delta and then attended Ole Miss for undergraduate and law school . Upon completion of law school in 2004, he moved to Jackson, Mississippi to clerk for the Honorable Donna Barnes at the Mississippi Court of Appeals. In August of 2005, he started with Porter Malouf, P.A. law firm focusing on product liability work until June 2019.

On July 1, 2019, Johnny started Givens Law Firm with an emphasis on representing coal miners in Kentucky and West Virginia against the manufacturers of defective respirators.  Johnny is one of only a handful of attorneys in the country that practice in this area.  Johnny handles any type of personal injury case from car wrecks to medical malpractice to premises liability.  Johnny has tried over ten cases to verdict.  

Johnny is a member for First Ridgeland where he is honored to serve as a Deacon.  When he is not practicing law, you can find him spending time with his two rescue dogs Sally and Humble, SCUBA diving around the world, or doing a WOD at Crossfit 601.

Jean Reid Goodwin

Paralegal

Jean Reid grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and attended Mississippi State University.  Jean Reid joined Givens Law Firm in September 2020 as Johnny Given’s paralegal, but has worked alongside him for 15 years.  Their personalities, similar goals, and eagerness to help others are the foundation of Givens Law Firm.

When not working, she enjoys traveling to watch her son, Fletcher and husband, Jeff race mountain bikes with her sidekick Frenchie, Blueberry.

Sally and Humble

Sally and Humble were adopted from Cheshire Abbey in the Spring of 2018. Sally is a beagle/husky mix and Humble is a terrier mix. They are best friends whose hobbies include chasing squirrels, going on walks, napping, and chewing bones. Sally and Humble also truly enjoy the times they get to come to the office assisting their Dad with the practice of law and visiting with others in the office getting all the pets and love.
